Commission your own piece I love to work with people who want their own special piece, but it can be hard to know exactly what you want, and where to start thinking about it - so here are a few hints to start you off.
- First of all - what is the occasion? Land mark birthday - new baby - special interest - something silly
- Think about the person you intend to give it to, and try to give me an idea of their personality - do they like flowers, cutie animals and frills, or are they more minimal, delicate - very experimental and wild, or much more conservative and conventional.. What colours do they like, do they like sparkle and glitz, you know them best so you need to tell me what would suit.
- Then think about the type of piece you would like done - mostly it's a card for an occasion - but it could be an A4, A3 piece to make a bigger piece to frame? If you have a text that you want me to scribe - we will have to consider the pens I have to use and the letter/line size.
- Once you give me a few hints I can sketch out some ideas. You can say what you like and what you don't - and if my ideas give you another idea - well that's great, just let me know and we will follow that. I will pull out a few papers and scan it all in to show you (the blessings of the Internet).
- When you are happy with the direction we are going in - or you know me well enough to trust me! I will work on a final piece - then I scan it in for you to approve - you pay for it - I post it - simple as that!!
