PAPER GLOBE (March 10, 2008)
PAPER GLOBES BY HEATHER BAILEY
We used to make these at school - huge ones - cut a pattern out in the centre of the triangle and back with tissue paper - use as light shades!!
I had forgotten all about them until I saw the photo - then the memories came flooding back!! Ahh school - AHHHHH school!!!!
So here are the instructions:-
You need a circle with a equilateral triangle in the centre. I used 'Word' and set a triangle in a circle - used my Fiskers shape cutter to cut the circle - then put the template on the light box to score the fold lines. TIP - if you score on the back of the paper, you fold down - and you need the edges to be at the front!
You will need 20 altogether - then you put them together as follows.
Set 5 section together to make the top section.
And another 5 together to make the bottom section.
Then make a line of the remaining 10 sections - as shown.
Now you add the middle section to the top section. If you find my instructions too quick and rough - please click on the link above and download the original instructions for yourself.
I wanted to make a mobile - so I had a long piece of pretty wool. I added a bead and knotted it so the ball would sit under it - ran the wool through the bottom section and, added beads and knotted underneath the ball to anchor it there.
I have made a couple in the new Paper Mania patterned papers and hung them on my window pole. I have added a tassel and beads and they look stunning.
