Essays & General Comments 07-10-28 LATE SUNNY DAY (October 28, 2007)
Today has been a super day! When I woke up it was wet and dreary, so the looked forward too all week, agility dog training morning seemed a no-hoper. Well of course, the clocks went back - so there was an extra hour before we had to turn out! Queue glorious sunshine.
By the time we had waited the extra hour to go out The Palace Guard Dog was hyper excited (he had already been thumped by a cat). The sun was so hot I had the car window open and the dog was 'nose in the wind'.
We go to Grange-Over-Sands for agility training and I think most people had been put off by the overnight rain so we were a fairly select little group. Kevin (out trainer) was off at an obedience show (don't know if he was competing or judging - he is one of the top judges in the country), so dear old David stepped in. As we were all 'old hands' we pitched in and set the equipment up and we were off.
William just did not have his 'paying attention' brain cell in. You know it does not matter how much you train a dog - the best dogs are still DOGS. And when they WON'T, well, they just WON'T. It is a huge confidence booster when dogs that are out there competing in shows just totally fall apart and WON'T. Anyway today The Palace Guard Dog was far more interested in what was at the other side of the park than the hurdle in front of him. Ever seen a small dog do a 3' jump from standing, with out looking - stunning! We all had a very pleasant hour out on the sea front - thanks for standing in David.
Well, after lunch it was still sunny - and there is only sooo much jigsaw puzzle a girl can take - we pottered up the road to drop a card into 'her up the road' (birthday next week). No sign of life, never mind - we took The Palace Guard Dog up the lane, and over the hill so he could have a swim in the pond there. Do you remember the Gremlins film - where the cute little fluffy thing turned into crazed monsters when they got wet - - cue stage left, one wet dog. He had such fun - and he is so funny to watch.
Well now it's dark now - it's pouring with rain again - the 'Fat Cat' is in his fluffy bed and the dog is asleep on his blanket by my feet. Don't you just love those late autumn sunny days that are so hot - and pass so quickly?
Wonder what it will be like tomorrow?
