Essays & General Comments 08-06-21 CARD FRAUD (June 21, 2008)
As most of you know, I live in Kendal - you won't know that we have had problems round here because the nasty, thieving, fraudsters targeted Morrison's cash point and loads of people have lost money out of their accounts. We are such a close community - everyone knows someone who has been hit.
well they got the kitten too!!!
Never bother much with my personal money account (as opposed to the house account with the 'proper money' and big bills), just have a small income for princelet's pocket money and stuff, and I buy my craft things. There is usually a hundred or so in it - suddenly I was down, -£300+, WHAT!! At first I thought Argos had charged twice for princelet's Xbox that I bought (he saved the cash and I used my card for 'safety') - and then the amount I thought was his drum lessons went through twice but the second payment ended in odd pennies.
I phoned Nationwide (and full marks to them for helpful-ness and sorting-out-ness), dear lady at the end of the phone said ' those are transactions from abroad' - covered there then: no passport - and can't travel! She filled a fraud report - cancelled all transactions and reissued new cards for me. fraud department will be in touch to check details and the money lost will be refunded.
You can guess the state I was in when I finally worked out why I could not understand my statement! So a HUGE thank you to the Nationwide for such service - If I could drop a tin of biscuits in to say what a great bunch you are I would. You will have to make do with a very grateful kitten's thanks
