Essays & General Comments WELLNESS (August 17, 2008)
This has been the most amazing weekend ever.
I HAVE BEEN WELL!
Bit scary, I know, poor little (little??) princelet did not know what hit him. Don't know how / why / what / happened - but I woke up Saturday, dropped the old goat off at his gig for the day, came bouncing home, woke up princelet, and have not stopped since!
The grotty old shed: we've all got one. Girls - You know the place, the door won't shut because of all the junk piled up; and you can't find where anything is (even though he SWEARS it's there), so you have to buy some more anyway; and the shelves are so over stacked that everything topples over; and when you do have to put something in it, you just shove it in and run. The place (where everything will have a use one day - yeah, right, OK, it's a boy thing) that I have been threatening to clear out for at least the past 3 years - really, really got cleared out this week end.
We emptied it all - we PAINTED it all - we dumped all the old junk (sorry to the boys, but it really, really, will never have a use) - went and bought some cheapie kitchen units to fit down one wall - built them - put them in - sorted all the stuff back in - got some work tops (half price) - and cleared up all the mess. By the end princelet was getting a bit crabby; really bleary eyed and grumpy- and the old goat was saying 'pace yourself' in a very teeth gritted way! But, I DID IT.
Need to rewire the light (so it switches off/on) and put a bit of roof insulation up - and BINGO: the most work in 2 days I have done for at least 3 years.
My bubble will burst - of this I have no doubt, that is the nature of FMS /CFS! This illness is so odd. No wonder no-one can work out what is going on in the system. In the '80's it was dismissed as 'yuppie flu' - get off your backside and get on with it - type stuff. These days, thank heavens, the doctors (if not always the public) are much more understanding of the problems we have and will work with you to throw any sort of medication at it (not much, but at least they try). My doc is fantastic - what ever I want to have a go at, he will consider, and he put up my doses sometimes to over ride a problem. If you don't have a sympathetic GP - for heavens sake change to one who understands.
A month ago I could barley walk and my pain killers were through the roof. I had a really nasty turn and was driven to rest (you will know from my scatty posts that I was struggling) - now suddenly I am up and about and doing stuff. Well I for One am going to push it as far as I can. I am away at the caravan for a week from Saturday and can spend all week sleeping and resting.
But as for now: let me enjoy my flight!!
